Dear Teacher, In the Winter 2010 edition of your MyGradeBook newsletter, we review some of the changes made to MyGradeBook over the past year. From a complete site redesign to a step-by-step guide for new users, MyGradeBook made lots of changes in 2009. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to fully utilize them. | |||

MyGradeBook got a whole new look in 2009. Pages were widened to make better use of the higher screen resolutions that most teachers now use. Old tabs were replaced with new ones that fly out when your mouse hovers over them, allowing you to get to any page with a single click. The site even got a whole new color scheme. Check out the before and after shots of MyGradeBook's makeover! |

The New User Guide is an optional way to build your new classes in five easy steps. The New User Guide walks you through creating a class, defining grading periods, updating categories, and adding assignments, students, and passwords. Access the New User Guide by clicking the "add" button in the middle of your Class screen. The New User Guide is one of many teacher-controlled preferences located in the My Account screen. Click here to see a video which shows you how to use the New User Guide. |

MyGradeBook Group Managers now have an option to invite teachers to join their group via the Teacher Invitation Email screen. The new template allows you to enter all the names and email addresses of teachers that you wish to invite into your group. Once you click "save," each teacher will receive an email with a link to join your group. Need to add another teacher to your group? Click here to pop up a window that shows a sample of the invitation email that teachers will receive. |

Teachers, students, parents, and group managers can now view and print reports in PDF format. When you load a report page and hold your mouse over the "print" link near the top of the screen, you will see several printing options, including PDF. The HTML format is still available, but many people prefer PDF format because it provides additional controls over printing. To use this feature, you must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer. Download Adobe Reader for free |

You can now flag assignments as extra credit. Teachers, along with students and parents, will see a clickable ♦ symbol when an assignment has been flagged as extra credit. The ability to flag assignments as extra credit replaces the old method of defining an extra credit category. Click here to pop up a window that shows an example of how an extra credit symbol appears in a report. The bottom of the image shows the symbol and the red oval at the top shows how the extra credit increased the students grade. |
