Access Log Report
The Access Log Report helps you maintain the
security of your account.
The Access Log screen shows you all access attempts and failures against your
account during the previous thirty days. You should review your access log each
time you login to MyGradeBook. When you login, you land on the Home tab. If there
were any invalid passwords used during login attempts in last 30 days, the Access Log Report is automatically displayed in
a pop up.
If you suspect someone is attempting to guess your password, go to the
My Account screen and change your password every couple of days.
In addition, you may want to print the Access Log screen and tell the police that
someone is breaking the law by illegally (albeit vainly) trying to access your account.
There are four columns in the listing of account accesses. Each column is described
below.
Date
The date columns displays the date and time of the access.
Result
The result will normally contain "Successful".
If the result column does not contain "Successful", one of the following values
will be entered;
Incorrect Password This occurs when the wrong password is entered.
Locked out (3 unsuccessful tries) This can occur if you (or some other person)
makes three straight mistakes when entering in your password. Check the activity
prior to the locked out message(s) to see if the access attempts were made using
passwords you would have not entered or at times you would have not accessed the
system. Your account is "locked out" for one hour when three straight unsuccesful
login attempt are made. You can unlock your account by typing your unlock password in the
password field instead of your normal password.
Unlocked (your unlock password was used) This occurs when you successfully
"unlock" your locked account by entering your unlock password instead of your password in the
login screen.
IP Address
The IP (Internet Protocol) Address column identifies the address that was used
during the access. The IP address will vary depending on whether
or not you always access your account from the same computer and whether or not your
computer is always assigned the same IP address when getting on the internet.
After you have made several accesses to your account you will be able to see
if you always use the same IP address or at least use the same first couple of
numbers. You can review the IP addresses used to access your account to see if
some really different IP address is accessing your account at times you were not
using the system.
Password Used
The password used normally just contains asterisks. The password contains asterisks
when you successfully access your account. If an incorrect password is used,
the password column will show the incorrect password. You can refer to the password
column when reviewing an unsuccessful login attempt to see if the password used
was something you may have typed by mistake.
If you suspect someone is attempting to guess your password, go to the
My Account screen and change your password every couple of days.
In addition, you may want to print the Access Log screen and tell the police that
someone is breaking the law by illegally (albeit vainly) trying to access your account.
